This seems right…

You Are a Rock Star |
![]() Even if you can’t play a single instrument, you’re a total rebel and creative type. You couldn’t imagine yourself with a corporate job, and you couldn’t imagine having a boss. You are expressive, original, and often times a bit moody. You are very real about who you are and what you’re feeling. |
Both, Really
|
You Are a Doer |
![]() You are primarily concerned with what is actual. You tend to be a practical person. You love to stay busy, and you are always immersed in projects. You are in touch with your senses, and you enjoy indulging them. You’re likely a crafter of some sort. |
FYI
There is an anonymous place where I am writing more fully what’s happening and what I think and feel, both current and in depth as a therapeutic exercise. Don’t want everyone to know where it is and would like to avoid making it passworded, but there are people who know and read me out there who I’d sill be willing to direct to it. If interested, e-mail licked@elhide.com.
Happy Birthday
To blogger “Beau,” husband of Jen, who posted that and other birthday news.
Happy Birthday
To my former sister-in-law, Noel, who is 55 today.
Augh
I forgot the stripping problem meant more than just links would be trashed. It also means nothing has an apostrophe or a quotation mark as composed in an offline editor that talks to xmlprc and then is, apparently, affected by version of PHP. Support has narrowed it to probably PHP version, but still trying to resolve it.
I will update the mangled posts at the web interface now, and maybe I won’t post here much.
Yearly Goals
I started to tweet this and then didn’t. It bears remembering, though. Here is what I wrote, edited only slightly as there’s not a 140 character limit here:
#yearlygoals 1 - Recall/identify my dreams or at least meaningful goals, 2 - Don’t lose track of them or the need for them again, 3 - Pursue.
I’ve felt like I became boxed into the no more dreams zone, where I haven’t the time or enthusiasm to dare them, and would not be able to pursue them if I did.
Item 3? The shorter word would be GO!
Expectations
My subconscious took an editorial I read recently that invoked the concept of the fox and the hedgehog and leapt from there. The idea is, apparently, that the hedgehog knows one big thing, while the presumably clever fox knows many things, and that the hedgehog wins. Not familiar with the fable, personally.
I realized that someone can have one big expectation, an overarching one. At the same time, there can be small expectations, and those can cumulatively run counter to the big one. Or the other variants, like individuals being one big or many small entirely or primarily. And people can interact with each other based on those, and which they respond to and why.
It gave me an interesting way of looking at things.
Happy Birthday
To apparently former blogger Dave Browning.
Happy Birthday
To my cousin Billy, who is 49 today.
If I ever have a house…
I want a bath tub large enough for a decent sized adult male to fit in for a good soak.
James Armistead
The shocking thing is I’d never heard of him. Shouldn’t every kid learn about someone that impressive and important in history in school? Oh wait, I went to public schools…
The Trouble With Plans
Is that mine change every time someone makes a new demand or has a new priority for me to follow.
Theme Change
I’ve tentatively changed themes, which is both to look better and to have widgets enabled for easier management of the sidebar. I still have to put back Site Meter and organize things, but so far so good.
RIP Bo Diddley
Guitarist Bo Diddley dead at 79. I think he was right about the financial rewards passing him by, but it’s ever so with pioneers. For a time, he wasn’t even as famous as he should have been. I’d only barely heard of him before the Bo Jackson commercials.
Plunging Right Along
Solidly 259 this morning. That’s 49 off peak and 39 this year. I might have been in the 250-something range at some point when I first met Deb, but for the most part I’ve been above that for several years. No wonder I can see it in my face. It’s nothing compared to when my peak was 233 and, disgusted, I dropped 55 to an almost anorexic low of 178, then stabilized for years at 200 - 210. I’m also not 20-something anymore.
And yes, this blog was intended for posts like this, not just tweets to echo, with this being long as such posts would go.
It’s Nanny.gov’s Fault
The whole van thing could be blamed on the government. We didn’t need an extra “seat” after all, but an extra seat that would hold a car seat. When I was a kid, three would sit in the back seat of a car like the Sentra just fine. Hooray for nanny.gov. The safety freaks fuel demand for large vehicles so the eco freaks can scorn us.
Tax Stuff
Working on tax stuff this weekend, so I won’t have much time for more work on this or for other projects. Former partner needs K-1 before Wednesday, and I need income number for last year, which looks to be lower than I’d thought.
Success
That was easy, adding Twitter Tools plugin to show tweets as posts. Now I’ll have to add some original posts here too. They are intended to be brief, little more than off the cuff remarks or links that don’t call for much elaboration, or links to stuff posted elsewhere.
