  • Might have been done sooner had I checked both dllcache AND drivers for suspicious filles. Beep.sys! #
  • Explaining to Sadie about the alarm going off at 2 AM and what I go do and all. #
  • Way too early. #
  • Seems I am the freaky new guy who can unload a trailer almost at experienced guy speed. #
  • And whose eczema is not welcome to break open and get blood on all the packages while I don’t notice. #
  • I need to figure out what to do about the finger(s) cracking & bleeding, starting with the one that kicked in at the first hint of fall. #
  • Spent the end of shift with fresh Band-Aid & a latex glove, which shredded but did keep finger covered. Band-Aid was soaked red when done. #
  • The pace they think is great would probably have made my boss at Renovator’s Supply think I was a slacker, interesting retrospective. #
  • I feel ridiculously not like sleeping. Weird. #
  • Speaking of Renovator’s Supply, this has actually been enough stress to make my old arm injury from that job flare up. #
  • @gautamghosh That’s a great idea for a book! #
  • @almightygod On the plus side, one can’t really worship Satan without believing in you. It’s a step up from disconnectedly false idols. #
  • Today is hard. Could’ve slept it through had I allowed myself. Have to do errands, some cleaning, lunch for kids, Halloween stuff… #
  • Figure out supper and try to make it simple and fit it around the festivities, shower and shave of course, try not to freeze, be asleep by 9 #
  • Still tempted to drive kids around to family and incorporate the errands, but… And going to wait for Monday for car inspection. #
  • Argh! $70 flat fee for putting RAM upgrade in a server Monday and I missed snagging the workorder in the 3 minutes it was available. #
  • Relatively close, highest pay I’ve seen for the expected time, low red tape, available on best day of week for it. Argh indeed. #
  • Oh well. Sadie has requested tuna for lunch, & pumpkin bread rather than apple crisp when I was muttering about baking one of those. #
  • Augh! Identical workorder, dif location, missed it in even shorter time than the other. 2 minutes it was open and someone beat me by 17 sec. #
  • @sharone75 OMG you are sooo ancient! A fossil! Darn Einstein, not fixing that whole “time” thing. :> #
  • hating halloween #
  • by 6 need to have kids out door, visible part of kitchen presentable in case any ppl show at door, candy unhid for same… #
  • not yelling at baby for failure to recover from nap & refusal to allow me to DO anything but hold him. No idea what girls’ll wear… #
  • besides their capes, and need 1/2 hr+ to get stuff selected & them dressed. And him, but at least Eeyore costume is warm & inherent. #
  • I need some sleep and I need to be allowed to finish cups of coffee sometimes, since that’s the alternative. #
  • He went away, at least, so off to herding them… #

  • Feel like I got the wrong amount of sleep. Needed to stay awake an hour ago or sleep a few more. Can’t do that though. Out door in 18 mins. #
  • Perhaps the single mug of coffee will help. Along with megadose of ibuprofen. Ouch. #
  • That was fun. I think they detect a llive one here. And I work with sister of a schooll friend I’d not seen in 30 yrs. #
  • I had just thought of her last week, which I’d never have reason to do. #
  • And the guy I started with is from my hometown and I went to school wioth his father. #
  • Hurting. Got about an hour nap. Dehydration is probably single biggest problem. No idea how I will do anything today/tomorrow but collapse. #
  • 7 PM bedtime for kids? It could happen… #
  • Trying to figure out what I can bake with cranberries without eggs or dairy today. #
  • Eventually Val will appreciate her hair is not a napkin. #
  • Sadie has adopted my habit of referring to something for a person as having their name on it. Handed me a pretzel “with your name on it.” #
  • Someday kids will learn to express strong & timely preference for meal when asked. Well, one did: burger. Couldn’t get others to go along. #
  • Last night the 3 kids devoured 3 full size burgers plus half of mine. Val apparently hasn’t lost interest. Then again… #
  • She had a small piece of my chicken salad sandwich with tomato & seems sated. Sadie wanted pretzels. Henry needs more words, fast. #
  • This malware that includes karna.dat & brastk.exe is brutal. #
  • Much like the ashtray/smoke smell in my office. Thanks neighbors! #
  • At least my chicken, barley and lentil soup (if it merits then name when it could be eaten with a fork) came out so good kids want it ASAP. #
  • There’s an increasingly high probability Deb’s machine will be wiped, but need to find the relevant copy of XP. #
  • Was Nightly Business Report on PBS always more like Nightly Commie Report? Never watched much, but don’t recall that. #

  • Sleep would be so cool! Kids seem to object. 1st alarm rings in 2:45 from now. #
  • Apparently I really need to develop the ability to sleep on demand. Without reading. #
  • Can’t read when 2 yo must sleep with me. At least SHE fell asleep. I’ve migrated to her empty, comfy bed now. #
  • 12 minutes. Short commute. #
  • 3 hours allready? Just hallf unlloaded a trailer, most of a trailer, and almost half a trailer. #
  • They suddenly realized it was time to send me home so I wouldn’t burn out my 1st night. #
  • Now can I fall asleep? Or stay there any length? After slinging probably 1000 packages it shouldn’t be problem. #
  • Nope. A shame laying down comfortably isn’t as good as sleep. I wonder if Val’s bed also makes her itchy… #
  • Ho hum. All well and good to come home & be unable to sleep, but it has to happen sometime… #
  • My only chances are now until at most 10:30 and after 9 PM earliest, to get up at 2 AM or so. #
  • Well, that was an hour or so. Bladder, cold and kids ganged up. NOW it seems I could fall right back to sleep, but yeah. #
  • Scheming about what to bake to warm the place up. May try apple crisp recipe. Possibly meal food too, later. #
  • Have so many veggies leftover & no chicken left that I could just add meat & have another comprehensive meal. #
  • Twitter just barfed in the weirdest way I have ever seen. #
  • That was a test. It didn’t repeat. Saving tweet about apple crisp energizing kids made a “who am i” Twitter home page come up in one tab… #
  • and mobile twitter in the other. #
  • while eating my tweet. #
  • @robmay Imagine that! Perhaps Theory of Money and Credit would have been a better choice… #

  • Got maybe 2 hrs crappy sleep. Can’t sleep further. back hurts too much, too hot, alarm goes off in less than an hour. #
  • I sure hope this first night is mostly training that isn’t physical. I know it starts with paperwork and training videos anyway. #
  • Also, people upstairs are bouncing off the walls because it’s their party night off. Mon and Tue are their weekend, sadly same as Deb’s. #
  • Norm won’t drink coffee before this job b/c bathroom breaks are a bear, but think I’ll do that tonight. #
  • Poor kids will have to put up with our watching Chuck & Heroes during day tomorrow. Glad it’s a 100% leftovers day, no cooking. #
  • This will (my first “job” this century. 10 yrs ago I was preparing to leave the last one. #
  • Man that’s a short drive with nobody on the road. 14 mins from stepping out door. 9 miles. #
  • That was interesting. 3:20 AM tomorrow for ID pic. Need shoes. Wonder if my steel toed boots exist/fit still… #
  • Blackberry has to live in car while I work, too, for unexpected valid reason. Off to home & maybe sleep. #
  • Twilight Zone. When I was able to sleep, did so until minutes ago, then found Val was only one here. She was up half the night, then slept. #
  • Val kept me from getting to sleep until after 7 when I could have been asleep by 5. She’d been wide awake since 3. Bad timing. #
  • Deb’s machine got infested and has kept me busy and annoyed. Seems to have hooked into residual N*rt*n AV files & Win update/security center #
  • Had it almost but not quite controlled, decided to do restore, now some of it’s back. It’s one that even uses app init reg entry under… #
  • HKLM software microsoft winnt windows current to autorun, not just normal run keys. #
  • Basically have to drop that, run to store for vitals, try getting kids abed early & go to bed myself, pick up t-shooting in AM. #

  • Kids seem to be melting down #
  • You should always have a flareup of intense back pain in the 3 days leading to start of a physical job hard on the back. #
  • Realized last night that Deb will be at work during Halloween time on Friday, which will make things interesting. #
  • OK, what to do toady? Besides shopping, cooking, dishes, cleaning, and fixing the computer mocking me before Henry breaks it. #
  • Toady? That would be today. Heh. The Toady Show does sound kind of funny… #
  • @margilowry Doh! Supposed to be nice here. Probably just take them out early and then man the fort in case we get any ourselves. #
  • @margilowry Speaking of Halloween, maybe we should try Eeyore suite on Henry today to see if it does fit… #
  • @MikeG1 If they were young women, they’d be muses, one would look just like Olivia Newton-John, but there’d still be skates. #
  • Right, cleaning! And chicken. #
  • Ate myself into stupor, set VCR & was going to get some sleep. If I don’t get to it the moment may pass. #
  • This is one of my best roast chickens yet. Glad I braved the heat to cook it today. #
  • And Congress? Should leave the freakin DST alone. But then, that applies to almost everything. Almost had a VCR tragedy. #

  • @pixxiespaz And no egg? That’d be awesome! They had one at gram’s last week but it had regular margarine used in it. #
  • @pixxiespaz Presumably the touching undoes the keeping it cold, felts the fat & changing its granularity. #
  • @innismir That made me think “they sing about beauty and they sing about truth, at $10,000 a show, right!” Orwell meets Dr. Hook. #
  • Who turned off the sun? #
  • I suppose it’s better than turning off the sunspots and causing massive global cooling. #
  • Scheming #
  • @pixxiespaz Either way. E-mailing is probably good unless it’s really short, OTOH there’s multiple tweets. #
  • @abigvictory Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? #
  • Apparently I need to drop everything to Henryproof the place, which means tacking everything important to ceiling or moving to top shelves. #
  • @abigvictory Time has come today. Time. [Grunt] Time! My soul’s been psychadelicized! Time has come today. There are things to realize… #
  • @abigvictory Better? #
  • @abigvictory No wonder you’re having problems. Time.gov won’t load. Was gonna see if 10:17 or 10:19 (that’s AM, BTW) was closer. #
  • How did I get over 990,000 files on this machine? #
  • We’re proud, Henry has learned to fight back when his sister torments him. He managed to knock HER down in turn. #
  • I was planning to roast a chicken, but it’s annoyingly hot in here today. High of 65, after all. #
  • Speaking of food, I’d better throw some at the kids before they fall apart. #
  • Oops, just noticed phone unplugged still from nap… yesterday? Friday? #
  • Sadie keeps scraping around the house on two Mega Blocks, “skating.” Taking her skating may be the perfect thing my father could do. #
  • The three kids devoured 5 hot dogs and a piece of leftover meatloaf. #
  • Baby finally napping. Dammit the phone is riningh! #
  • This is why it ends up unplugged. My family has esquisite timing. #
  • I hate this delay problem in Twitter that makes my typing a mess if I d o n ‘ t w a i t f o r e v e r y s t r o k e t o a p p e a r . #
  • Now to cook chicken or something else and how bout those dishes… #
  • Ah, guess I’d better go save the bathroom from accidental drowning. #

  • Perhaps I should be glad I don’t have to pass a drug test. I’m not sure I can let this go all winter without being an issue. #
  • @shartlen I take it Flat Iron is good, given your frequency there. If I could afford going out, I could walk there, so I was curious. #
  • Been trying to figure exactly how the sleep will work with 3-8 AM job Tue-Sat & kids about 10:30AM-8:30PM Wed-Sun. #
  • Probably I’ll be able to nap slightly during days, if not between 8-10 AM, plus a few hours from 10PM-2AM. It’ll fall into place. #
  • I’ve done the basic shift before, plus classes during day at various times. Yes, I’m stalling. Almost every dish in house is dirty, waiting. #
  • Did that Obama poll, what other Pres he’d be like in practice. Contemplating equal time/snark for McCain, trying to come up with 10 options. #
  • I might consider the workorder that just popped up if it were closer and the red tape didn’t suck all the value out of it. #
  • For the McCain poll I’ll include William Henry Harrison, for obvious reasons. #
  • Doh. Silly poll ate one of my options w/o telling me it was too verbose. Not really a proper McCain poll w/o free speech restriction answer. #
  • Oh well. What other Pres would McCain be like? http://tinyurl.com/6ctjbw #
  • Chilly. What can I bake today? Sadly not a meal, as we have plenty of leftovers. That leaves bread or sweets. How dreadful. #
  • What would look for files at Windows update site when WU is utterly and completely disabled on a machine? #
  • Kids are crazy. Still scanning Deb’s PC for malware. Still trying to grasp that I am awake. Still wondering what to sacrifice in the oven. #
  • Need to put away dishes, wash the last ones, clean table, work on computers, feed kids, sweep, clean office, blog maintenance, um… more. #
  • Pie, huh? I have apples. And shortening. Just can’t use butter. Tempted to figure out a shortcut version of “crust” or make not-pie… #
  • Vegans & gluten-free folks have done wonders for making alternate recipes & subs findable, even if I’m all over meat & wheat myself. Yum. #
  • I should buy lard to try cooking with one of these days. Steve Graham would be proud. Walmart carries it. Stop & Shop too. #
  • http://whatscookingamerica.net/piecrst.htm seems like a useful reference on pie crust variants. Didn’t know you could use liquid oil. #
  • Deb appears to have had a rootkit. Yay. #
  • Shortening for 2 pies of crust is in freezer so it might be viable. Now about those dishes and hungry monsters… #
  • Burrito leftovers for lunch, plus some veggies & meatloaf for Henry. They’re in bath so it’s my chance to empty dishwasher safely! #
  • @FroynLaven Malwarebytes, new scanner I tried and liked. Found stuff Spybot S&D didn’t on my Win2k box, ditto Deb’s today. #
  • Henry is extremely jealous of the girls getting cheese and sour cream when he doesn’t. #
  • Finally rolling on pie prep while baby naps. Shortening chilled frozen by now. #
  • Apparently I need to practice the whole pie crust thing. Yet I was able to turn unworkable crust into streussel-like topping instinctively. #
  • The pie is tasty, even if I can’t produce crust that rolls and can be handled. Very tasty. #

  • Want to move furniture, uncover baseboard, examine/seal for leaks. Cold breeze shouldn’t flow around baseboards. #
  • This is the point when I see how close I can get to December before turning on the heat. #
  • Never got back to sleep after Sadie joined me. Just gave up on the attempt. #
  • Temp fell to at least 28 last night outside. 65 in here now. Borders on too cold. #
  • Norm for us is set heat at 65, plan lower this year. Not that it’s accurate, 65 seems to give us 70 mostly. #
  • Nice to know I can pass a criminal background check enough to get a part time seasonal package handler job. #
  • Start Tuesday at 1 AM for orientation and paperwork. #
  • Amusing they would call me on a day I was out doing other work & wasn’t able to call back. #
  • Right! I need to finish the paperwork/loose ends online to get paid for yesterday. I’m hugely impress with tech service co that hired me. #
  • Amused by the whole “get a talking dog by feeding her alphabet soup” concept. #
  • @Shurakai Naw, that’s not until Sunday around here. #
  • It’s funny when the baby curses in baby talk. #
  • @PhillyMac_Chat Good morning! #
  • Need to locate a pair of 14″ tires that’ll pass inspection. 6 days to end of month & sticker on car looking obviously illegal. #
  • Val seemed to be in improved mood but had several minute crying fit caused by my giving her the drink she wanted & had waited happily for. #
  • Need to look up the possibility of eggless meatloaf. Maybe there’s a substitute binder… #
  • Interesting to see the variants: Rice, or mashed veggie soup, or potato flakes & dressing. Basically starch binders & enough moisture. #
  • @Shurakai I was thinking that just before I got this. Yep, no sour cream. Except what he steals of Sadie’s plate… #
  • Feeling overwhelmed, mentally allocating the upcoming income and running low before getting out of urgent territory. #
  • Helps to remove all the bones so it’s not a surprise sandwich. #
  • Shouldn’t take all day to be able to fax a page to client and comment the workorder to try to get spend limit increase. #
  • At least the fax is presumably sent now. Expecting baby to want to nap any second. #
  • OK, there’s the spend limit request & pricing note added. Now back to our regularly scheduled kids… #
  • Baby nap over and living room tidy, though that required the sacrifice of kid’s bedroom. #
  • Funny conversation, Sadie chastising me for too many toys on their bedroom floor so she was tripping. “Imagine that, tripping on toys!” #
  • @Shurakai That’s more than a little weird. Windows Update wouldn’t install NAV. #
  • That’s… not… a good sound… #
  • My office smells like ashtray. Irritating. #
  • Eggless meatloaf tossed together w/o a recipe tastes awesome, doesn’t pretend to even consider being texture you can slice. Taste wins IMHO. #
  • Wondering if I also smell residual pot smoke seeping from upstairs. #

  • Revised test of eggless pumpkin bread will be out of oven shortly. Looks like it’s perfect, smells great. We’ll see. #
  • Bought ginger because I was almost out, now can’t find it. This batch didn’t get any as a result. Optional addition by me, so no biggie. #
  • @sharone75 Eggs, dairy, avoid red & yellow # whatever dyes, stuff made of corn meal/flower… #
  • @sharone75 Basically if it’s meat, most bread or crackers, potato chips w/o dairy (many flavoreds have it), many fruits & veggies now… #
  • @sharone75 then it’s fine or low key. Also hasn’t officially cleared allergen-wise for peanut, strawberry, shellfish, though tuna is fine. #
  • @sharone75 no mayo of course. I was worried about lunch b/c I really need to try to drop them between 11:30-12, when they’d normally eat. #
  • Just realized phone I unplugged for baby’s nap this afternoon hd stayed that way. Oops. #
  • @sharone75 Anyway, we need to restock, but I’ll bring a couple items that are safe. Plus pumpkin bread you can serve everyone. #
  • @sharone75 If he eats something high in salicylates there it’s not a big deal, and even dairy seems more about getting on than in him. #
  • @sharone75 Bananas, too, for allergy/more extreme reaction. I could bring an entire lunch for him, actually. If we had Townhouse, I’d bring. #
  • Still marveling that a house $37k in 1977 after inflation ought to have been $125k in 2007. Voila, financial crisis. #
  • On that note (other computer turning self off spontaneously), I think I’ll go to bed. Morning will be frantic. #
  • Ugh. Crappy short sleep and kids all up early, one with trauma of unusual wet bed. #
  • @sharone75 I will shoot to drop them at 11:30 btw if I wasn’t clear on a time. #
  • Acrobat tries to install malware? Odd. #
  • Well, kids seem happy, even if they’re mothing me. #
  • Twitter tries to install malware when I type in it? Odd. #
  • @MikeG1 Tell her you don’t live in one of the ’stans? #
  • Baby napping, amazingly. Girls seem happy. Need to hurry to be out of here in an hour. #
  • Suddenly it’s late. #
  • So much for dropping kids off ay 11:30… #
  • Jusy running on kid time is all. A moment from leaving. #
  • Google maps was not even close! #
  • Nice when they’re excited to see you. #
  • Odd to get cell signal in server room not out of it. #
  • Approaching ceiling time way too fast. Scsi cable can’t be found. Doh. #
  • Scsi cable was do NOT in the box with PC. Giant label printer so NOT on workorder. Hate not being able to finish. #
  • Co that pays me i$0?????_C@1@@z?”?-???$t?@8?lp??:???<8??(;?(z???~?;?H<?;?>??(Xx;??(;x:Z??h?<X #
  • Done! Thought it’d turn into a come back Mon/Tue but left instrucs and they’ll see if can do. #
  • Stopping at store quick on way to get kids rather than with them. #
  • Leaving store to drag kids away from fun. Burritos for supper! #
  • Leaving for home! They are so cute! #

  • Attempting to line up entertainment for the kids before someone else accepts the pending work order that actually fits me. #
  • Concocted ground turkey in beef & sausage gravy, sweet Italian sausage, potato, peas, corn. Particularly yummy. #
  • Yay! A wee bit of work on Thursday. Now to download & spend more time perusing the red tape than the work will take. #
  • Something in last few days made Allergy Boy show signs of salicylate overload, less of a problem lately. Cumulative effect may have been… #
  • …applesauce + pumpkin bread + peach + orange + increased veggies. Not sure. Allspice, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon all very high. #
  • At least he’s growing out of being *quite* so sensitive to that range of stuff, if not to outright skin or food allergens. Knock on wood. #
  • Attempted to be snarkily funny with poll about what President you’d expect Obama to be most like in practice: http://tinyurl.com/5py6au #
  • Tested Malwarebytes today. Slow but thorough. Found stuff on my Win2k box that got past Spybot Search & Destroy, the gold standard. #
  • It’s doing full scan on Vista box now. 0 found. Almosy 84,000 items scanned, 30 minutes elapsed and counting. #
  • Strangest dreams ever. #
  • I predicted the housing bubble would collapse, not the whole world financial house of cards. Well, I suspected, but that’s been for 30 yrs. #
  • Now it’s like… stop! Don’t! Floating fiat money that’s mostly electrons and figments isn’t *that* bad… #
  • Someday we’ll live in a place without such a dramatic indoor temperature gradient. #
  • @sekimori Hell yeah! We could do far worse, and usually do. #
  • Must continue the progress I’ve made so far today. And bake. It’s cold, so this is the day for more pumpkin bread. For babysitter too…? #
  • @sharone75 Always tempting. Always. #
  • Time to snack the kids before they go insane. Or more so, anyway. #
  • Hello the steady torrent of dirty dishes. So good to see you… #
  • @Shurakai Swapped? Is she there? #
  • Need to shop is getting dire, at least in terms of easy foods for the kids. Tomorrow, I think, while out with them anyway. #
  • @robmay Extroversion seems relatively high on that. #
  • Wondering if oatmeal is still good, then remembered I used it for meatballs recently so duh. #
  • Funny to have Verizon call with “dudes, you’re late, pay please” and on the other hand call selling FiOS TV same day. #
  • @sharone75 Wow! Was just remembering I needed to ask if you’d get cranberries this year. Mom’d love some if spare. #
  • Seems oatmeal with maple syrup is to the kids what spinach is to Popeye or ring vtamin is to Underdog. #
  • Kids just devoured a cold sausage and part of the meat in gravy from last night. Took it out to have bite myself. #
  • Why merely remove your diaper & poop on floor when you can smear sister’s bed too. And other sister’s bed. #
  • Back to cooking. Sat for an e-mail check & catch of breath after getting chicken into oven. #

  • @jcaruso It’s standard for there to be a lengthy waiting period, and not unheard of for it never to be made available at normal pricing. #
  • @jcaruso The target customer during the “oops” period of weeks or months is the prior owner who didn’t mean to lose it & will pay premium. #
  • My mother doesn’t see the kids enough but when I encourage the idea of my dropping them with her for a few hours may as well be asking a log #
  • Idea was to offload them for a few hours to do some work on the place, incl. sealing windows for winter unencumbered. Nothing… #
  • Not even the recognition that I was asking as much w/o coming right out and saying “can I drop them of at X time on Y day for Z hours?” #
  • Strange. And since the when depends as much on her availability, though we WERE hoping for Mon. or Tue., I didn’t want to present a set time #
  • Kids are up waaaaay too late. Time to go read them to sleep… #
  • Strange dreams. Living in a miniature warehouse with people delivering pallets. Job I was supposed to learn I’d gotten just by showing up. #
  • @royblumenthal Hate it when it seems like a big problem but it’s something fundamental instead. #
  • Also dreamed Blackberry abruptly needed battery replaced & it took 4 AA, 2 D, & 2 9 volt. Physically impossible unless you’re dreaming. #
  • OK, what next? More coffee, put away dishes, work on computer…? #
  • Trying to figure details of stopping to get some boneless chicken at my father’s house that they got us on insanely cheap sale. #
  • Picturing boneless chickens resembling lobsters because they have exoskeletons. My mind… a strange place. #
  • Taking the brats to see their grandfather. #
  • Kids having blast running w/o downstairs neighbors but so not childproof house… #
  • Leaving for home! #
  • Homes & settled in. Took long back way home so baby could nap longer in car. Gotta jump right into cooking supper now. Doh. #
  • Kids didn’t run around outside b/c my father didn’t want them to get into areas he’d applied herbicide, but lots of open floor inside. #
  • They ran around and around central staircase like crazed metaphors, happy not to be told there were people living downstairs for once. #

  • Needed to do some stuff but can’t stay awake, feeling a bit sick. Guess I’ll roll with it and try to race in the morning. #
  • Done paying the kid on lap tax on my morning time, I think. #
  • Funny, once upon a time “first black President” was Powell’s for the accepting. A shame he both got tied to Bush & proved not all that. #
  • Interestingly, much as I loved Condi, some of my concern about Obama is also where she’d be questionable. He just doesn’t have the Bush tie. #
  • I’d still rather have had her than Obama, McCain, or Powell. Or Bush, for that matter. #
  • Dragging kids to Grandma’s today to get THAT out of their system. Gotta start getting ready. #
  • Kids having a blast running around grandma’s yard. Running to stay warm, I think. Brrr… #
  • @Shurakai Not so much, amazingly. #
  • Baby finally managed to push himself over in kitchen chair & is all sad & insulted b/c I caught him & scolded him. #
  • @Shurakai Plus that would be original. #

Twitter Updates for 2008-10-18

Posted in Twitter by Jay on the October 18th, 2008
  • Ordered from Newegg yesterday, UPS 3 day. Shipped from NJ this AM. Arrived here in MA sometime during the day. Amazing! #
  • Just thought of a great slogan for a shirt or such: “Nehemiah Scudder Was a Democrat.” #
  • Inspired by the move to have people prosecuted for noting apparent voter fraud. #
  • Poor kids had to put up with leftover pot roast turned into hash for supper. Plus cauliflower, mixed veggies, bread & butter, & ketchup. #
  • There was a lot of dipping of bread in ketchup. #
  • Ended up wikisurfing when I really needed to load the dishwasher. Guess I should stop reading about music theory etc. & do that soon… #
  • Forgot to set VCR to record Life. Silly TV execs, putting it in the death slot rather than, say, after Heroes for a perfect trio Monday. #
  • A shame the bailout happened too close to the election for an effective movement to replace 100% of Congress in anti-incumbant tsunami. #
  • Just remembered to put The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress where Deb will remember to take it in AM to loan to her boyfriend at work. #
  • He’s a geek but has never read any Heinlein. That seemed like a good launching point. #
  • @tonykatz Actually, the Friday death slot may be more applicable to Fox, so famous for using it as such, than NBC. Homicide was great… #
  • @tonykatz Never saw a lot of episodes, but it was amazing. Was thinking the other day about the one with the doomed guy in subway platform. #
  • Should see if Homicide is on Hulu. #
  • I recall Andre Braugher being especially notable. #
  • @mtpolitics @seanhackbarth Nobody should EVER be introduced via Stranger in a Strange Land. #
  • From wikisurfing to IMDB browsing like some kind of long haired, leaping gnome or something. Shiny thing! Well, if the virtual could gleam. #
  • @FroynLaven Hey, I’m not the one who only just discovered Firefly. Even if I didn’t watch it while it was on in Jessica Alba’s slot. #
  • @FroynLaven No amount of Nic’s Joss Whedon fangirl urging worked. It took Serenity to bring me to Firefly. #
  • Curse Fox’s sudden but inevitable betrayal! #
  • We even have a beta version Jayne Hat that Deb made. And truly ugly pictures of an unshaven, grungy me trying it on, somewhere, buried. #
  • Henry could have let me sleep later. Really. #
  • 42 Out. That would explain why it’s cold in here even with windows closed. #
  • Contemplating turning one of these pumpkins into bread, maybe trying no-egg recipe. #
  • @sharone75 RE the TV tweets last night & death slot? I assume they will cancel Life, based in slot, rumor, quality, arc resolution speed. #
  • Sadie learned “hot” by sticking hand in my coffee before she was a year old. Val seemed to take our word for it, oddly, or I forget… #
  • Henry learned hot from a running light bulb. Henry learned hot from a running light bulb. Henry learned… ? #
  • I seem to recall he touched the inside of the oven door once too. He’s the first kid to be so fascinated with the stove. Burner knobs, cool! #
  • @jimhill Oh, so cute! And yeah, boxes are cool. Amazing what else becomes toys preferred over real toys. #
  • Right. Chicken waiting in microwave. Need to check pumpkin in oven. Need to look up egg subs again, may try eggless pumpkin bread. #
  • And need to finish niece’s computer! Take advantage of kids being happy-ish and occupied. #
  • You know what was a good show that was canceled pronto? Cupid. #
  • Some of the stuff that might be best egg subs for us I don’t have on hand. #
  • @listener42 Had this been an actual tweetmergency, something something. This completes the test of the tweetmergency blogcast system. #
  • Tired of Val saying “I’m a happy girl” ad nauseum, but suppose it’d be wrong to teach her to say she’s depressive. #
  • Reading about the role of eggs in cooking versus appropriate substitutions. #
  • Heh. Apparently most sites that mention egg subs are in the employ of something called Ener-G. #
  • baby climbed on me to nap as I was figuring out standard egg sub for pumpkin bread seems to be apple sauce + baking powder #
  • May not have to say it, but I love Dusty Springfield. #
  • Cafeteria open for second lunch shift. Chicken for me and newly awake baby. #
  • One could make a killing using Gay Deceiver to import additional seasons of good series canceled here but not in some nearby reality. #
  • Latest poll of registered voters in Ohio puts Obama ahead of McCain 65 to 45 percent… #
  • @jefferyharrell Mmmm… Bacon bits. Or even whole. #
  • It’s weird. I boil chicken breast to have for chicken salad & the kids act like plain boiled chicken is best thing ever. #
  • OK, where was I? Applesauce is made so I can use it to replace egg. Ah, came in here to research cream or tartar… #
  • Since the pumpkin bread batter had no egg, I tasted it. If the baking part works fine, holy cow! #
  • Net change to my recipe to make up for eggs was apple sauce, little extra oil, flour, & baking soda, dash cream of tartar. #
  • @PhillyMac_Chat I wish I had the skills to be a personal chef. Which would probably be better than restaurant work, actually. #
  • @PhillyMac_Chat If this were 20 years ago & my proclivities had evidenced, culinary school might have been in order. #
  • My hands smell marvelously like nutmeg and ginger. Ginger is my secret addition, on top of nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Cleanup time… #
  • @PhillyMac_Chat Guy in my bldg in Quincy in 2003 was a chef working on becoming a teacher to leave the grind. #
  • Too moist. Which is the prob I had when I made pumpkin bread using butternut. Tasty, but almost custardy rather than bready. #
  • @deguspice Ooh, that must be even better than the Heinz I know and love. #
  • Don’t feel like erranding now, but it’ll just be half hour or so and back. #
  • Must control urge to buy more than 1 thing in Hannaford… #
  • More coffee sounds good. Maybe another bite of pumpkin bread. One loaf is all but gone already. #

  • @FroynLaven See my replies to @chriseverson that described it. #
  • @Ryon_D I’m curious just what you dislike so much about Heroes this season. #
  • Today found myself wondering if Obama isn’t so much Harding or Carter as Wilson. #
  • Which, discussing it just now, brings up the idea that Obama is Bush-like. #
  • FWIW the bad Twitter behavior happens with net cable unplugged, so it’s local in the sense the lag/CPU spike isn’t realtime net activity. #
  • Pondering what to feed the monsters for lunch. Maybe stretch the leftovers I’m planning to eat. #
  • This has been kind of a wasted day. #

  • Somehow managed to be completely unaware that the PT job I was interviewing for was so seasonal that it’d start mid to late November. #
  • And this is just their loading the queue with prospects for the busy season, the best of whom may be able to stay on after. #
  • And I’m still trying to figure out what I should have said in answer to how I handled a difficult situation. Stock question, after all. #
  • Now that I have installed Firefox 3 on the Win2k box I have the Twitter lag problem. Which I didn’t initially after upgrade. #
  • Or I didn’t notice. I’ll have to experiment to see if I can solve it here. #
  • 44 Out, was comfy in shirtsleeves, hot when I came inside, opened another window. Guess I’m well acclimated & ready for winter. Maybe. #
  • Guess I should go back to sleep. Still time to get a full night, net, without sleeping late & confusing the kids. #
  • Apparently my body thinks that if it sleeps 2 hours and gets alarmed out of bed to do a brief task, it ought to be up for the day. #
  • @Jim_PRS Happy birthday! #
  • Have to remember either to use Twhirl or use Twitter exclusively on the Vista machine, given the FF3/Twitter prob making it nigh unusable. #
  • Perusing Craigslist jobs. Obviously quite a caveat peruser environment. #
  • @abigvictory What!? You don’t want gift wrap that costs more than the gift? Sheesh. #
  • They’re being unobtrusive, but why are the kids hanging in the office near me when they have perfectly good Betty Boop cartoons on TV and… #
  • about a million toys. Albeit made less interesting by being strewn about, shoved under furniture, etc. #
  • @chriseverson CPU usage spike with each keystroke, on 2 PCs causing delay in what’s typed appearing in textbox. Spikes on all 3, but… #
  • @chriseverson Vista on P4 3.2 2GB RAM no delay visible. XP P4 2.4 512 MB and Win2k P3 1 GHz 512 MB there is delay. #
  • @chriseverson Tried FF safe mode, nothing else running, etc. IE doesn’t spike CPU same way, let alone have delay. Seems to be some kind… #
  • @chriseverson of effect of scripting callbacks for keystroke processing like might be used for dynamic autocomplete/suggest, but no idea. #

  • @robmay It takes more than one night. #
  • That was fast. Got there 4:24 and home 5:10 even with sleepdriving several miles out of way coming home. #
  • I should sleep. That was the show you the operation & try to scare you out of applying part of the process. Now it’s go in day & apply… #
  • Get background checked, then interviewed at 2 AM, then presumably employed. Worst case, I’ll find I’m too old for that kind of thing. #
  • More sleep would have been good. #
  • More sleep would be good, but napped a surprising amount in snippets, most notably AFTER kids started getting up. #
  • Took day cold meds last night and night cold meds this AM, hope for last time either way, so should be interesting. #
  • Baby is trying to sing the alphabet song, but mainly just says D, E and L. #
  • Kids are working on their 3rd and 4th pears with no sign of slowing. #
  • Huh. Interview is at 2 AM tomorrow, already. Boy, no space to be verbose on compter application. #

  • @almightygod Personally I always thought Heinlein’s concept of line marriage made the most sense. #
  • Doing job application/profile stuff. #
  • Long but awesome Sama post on housing, financial crisis, & by extension election, comprehensive http://samablog.robsama.com/?p=3625 #
  • It’s interesting the way the profile questions box and package you. #
  • Off to the races. #
  • Wasn’t counting on having to look at most of what I put in charity box for old kid/baby clothes… #
  • I absolutely, positively have to be at a “do you really want this job after seeing what it’s like” observation/application thing at 4:30 AM. #
  • Part time wee hours physical labor thing, which will help, and who knows, might resume my weight loss. Plateaued at -53 to -58 range. #
  • Pondering supper options that fall in the fast and simple realm but may go beyond mere burgers & dogs. #

  • Turns out I wasn’t monitoring default e-mail on one hosting account & hadn’t set unknown to bounce, so cleared 17000+, 65 MB of crap today. #
  • 65 MB of unknown e-mail, out of 165 MB total space being used on the hosting. #
  • The baby would have been happy to eat nothing but chili for supper. Forget the carrots, green beans, chicken, broccoli, & plain pintos. #
  • And bread. He was happy to eat bread with the chili. #
  • Val, by contrast, had 2-3 servings of carrots and green beans. Someone forgot to tell her how to be a proper 2 year old, apparently. #
  • Think it’s time for me to have drugs & kids to go to bed. #
  • They’ll apparently give a Nobel to anyone. #
  • w.bloggar posting to host newly upgraded to Apache2/PHP5 not only strips < and >, but also ‘ from everything. Makes it 100% useless. #
  • FWIW the stripping prob is not w.bloggar. BlogDesk does it too, so sure it’s Apache2, probably to make XSS impossible. <>”‘& are forbidden. #
  • Anyone know about this enough to tell me what to tell the host to change or what to do to work around it? Offline editing is mandatory. #
  • Trying slight WordPress upgrade, in case that somehow matters to the character stripping problem with offline editors. #
  • @mtpolitics She’s @neatlytangled #
