Tersosity & Verbosity

  • @chucksimmins The rice was IN said Tupperware, the dark blue canisters that great. Had to have gone in bad. But yeah, she’s so right. #
  • FiOS rocks, but I still miss the American Idol newsgroup. Thanks Cuomo et al, you fierce political thugs. Thanks Verizon, if understandable. #
  • Time to read the girls to sleep. Already was, but they were hungry already and needed some trail mix to tide them over. #
  • Looks like LinkedIn has adopted e-mail network updates similar to Plaxo’s. Probably smart, as more casual users will remember them better. #
  • @abigvictory That’s fiction for you! #
  • @MikeG1 RE swapping videos, Deb got a 3 disc set holding 150 old cartoons & each one runs on the order of 5 hours. Nice break. #
  • And hooray for copyrights that don’t last *forever* so 150 cartoons could be 5 bucks. #
  • @abigvictory That’ll be an alt ending on the extras DVD in the extended edition. Er, site? Gotta pay more for that. :> #
  • @Shurakai Someone tweeted about fish tacos last night & reminded me how good the ones I had at the 99 were. You reinvoked the craving. #
  • @sharone75 1 - Depends what you mean by “civics.” 95% of the populace doesn’t understand that, even if it was “taught,” politicians no less. #
  • @sharone75 2 - Don’t they *always* hold mock elections in some form, starting in 1st grade, maybe class elections starting 5th or 6th? #
  • @sharone75 I could swear I recall that in 1st grade (would have been kinda early in campaign) and fall of 6th grade. Few of us voted Nixon. #
  • Quick bit of work on the plans I’ve been making for this week and then have to get me and kids ready to go to grandma’s house. #
  • My mother won’t be there as she is babysitting all weekend for my brother’s kids she doesn’t babysit for anymore, while he & wife drive to.. #
  • Well, go to, not sure if it’s fly then drive, but picking up a dog grooming van in Indiana for her work & driving back to MA. #
  • One might expect they’d visit @Shurakai in OH on the way, but bet they won’t. #
  • Kids having a blast with cousins Alicia, Hunter and Tristan. #
  • Henry went most of way up set of stairs at gram’s house. Loves beets & turnip. #
  • Sadie and Val playing basketball with boy next door! Messing with getting from car to apartment. #

  • Partway through comment on Comcast post at Web Worker Daily I wondered why I wasn’t simply writing a post if I had so much to say. Happens. #
  • Had the craziest dream too detailed to describe in a tweet but included talking with old guy from AZ while laying on bags of frozen veggies. #
  • @phillymac Yes. Yes we do. #
  • @seanhackbarth Can you EVER vet anyone enough? #
  • Sounds like Val is saying “I don’t want a baby brother now!” after a tussle with him left her crying. #
  • @shartlen Good to see you here. You know me from Dave, Stream, xmas party in Watertown, discussion of CFM shoes. Don’t feel obliged… #
  • @shartlen to follow me, as I tweet a lot. #
  • OK, time to get this day on the road & make sure I don’t have unhappy, hurting-each-other brats- er, sweet kids out there. #
  • Plus it’s time for more coffee! Just realized I am wilting. #
  • @shartlen Yep. Born here, but only moved here 3 years ago. #
  • LinkedIn’s new group features have resulted in a messy bunch of “network updates” on the home page. Obviously the idea needs work. Sidebar? #
  • Starving kids plus favorite foods equals a special kind of quiet. Briefly. #
  • Girls are setup at table, peeling carrots. Val lefty was unexpected challenge. #
  • WTF, eating tweets out of the blue? It’s been so good. #
  • Apparently my last bit of barley was infested & I tossed it in beef stew without noticing. Until they floated to top & looked unexpected. #
  • We had spaghetti. #
  • The cabinets will need a going-over. At least this was very old, previously opened. FWIW same brand, I think, as the recent buggy rice. #
  • Sadie did better peeling stuff than I expected. Didn’t understand concept of “finished” though. #

  • Site Meter is impressively broken. #
  • @MikeG1 Sure you are! This is just a dream… #
  • Seriously, though, time for me to try to get some sleep. #
  • @tsattersten Happy birthday! #
  • Palin may be too conservative in some regards, but the choice is brilliant. Don’t think the fear Biden will whoop her in debate matters. #
  • Unspecific, but great discussion with recruiter who called yesterday. Basically what the interview last week ought have been. #
  • Wonder what one of the newer machines would think if I plugged in my old Mouse Systems serial mouse I bought at Lechmere, best mouse evah. #
  • FWIW Twitter Grader http://twitter.grader.com/ gives me 72, #1960 out of 7655 #
  • @cehwiedel I got a funky database error one of the times I used it, but it worked on a retry. Odd if there’s case weirdness. #
  • Signed up with Todoist a while back, never used, poking at it again… #

  • Killed a UPS tonight. It dying might explain some recent oddities. #
  • Poking domain auction stuff with a stick again. #
  • Put 2 domains on 90 day offer/counteroffer with buy now at TDNAM, free with no bells & whistles, so we’ll see. Priced moderately. #
  • Put xtremeware.com at 2k buy now and xtremecomp.com at IIRC 1k buy now. That’s the easy task. Need to setup comic sales sideline, etc. #
  • @seanhackbarth @PatrickRuffini Way in which VP pick matters is it’s a major managerial decision, point to evaluate candidate’s judgment. #
  • Which was a big reason Quayle was unusually negative. FWIW in @seanhackbarth’s list I always thought Bentsen positive, stuck w/vile Dukakis. #
  • @seanhackbarth Not sure the base is as urgent as that after primaries, and think one prob of Republicans last few years was misreading base. #
  • Not only do I not think pro-choice VP would be a problem, it might be net benefit to electability of overall ticket. Worst case, neutral. #
  • @seanhackbarth Yep, that’s the one gotcha, sufficient ground troops who’ll hold their noses & volunteer, or better, enthuse about helping. #
  • @seanhackbarth The not mattering could be an argument for making it exciting for maximum PR/media/distinction balanced with competence, etc. #
  • Back to going thru pics for tomorrow post, then bed so I get *some* sleep. #
  • @seanhackbarth Ew. There’s one past its use by date, & with similar excess Bush associations to Condi. Once was eager for her as President. #
  • @seanhackbarth Understand the not so pro-McCain sentiment, BTW. At AV blog we had a post category just for him: Senator Control Freak. #
  • Have 9 Valerie pics ready to post tomorrow- er, later today. Could easily have used more. Henry’s been like that lately too. #
  • Posted Valerie pictures: http://tinyurl.com/6gy7d3 #
  • I’d love to know WTF is biting us. I’m covered in insect bites, and now Sadie has one on her knew driving her crazy. #
  • It’s as if we’ve been invaded by some new thing we never had here before. #
  • @CloudySky If you invented instant teleportation, you could make a lot of money. BTW jealous of your NS trip. Been 10 years since I went. #
  • @CloudySky My Ellis grandfather came from PEI when he was 17 (his mother was from here though). My Irving grandfather came from NS at age 2. #
  • Annoyed I had some kind of inspiration, turned away from coffee I was making, got my hand in it, spilled everywhere, forgot my thoughts. #
  • @robpatrob Yes! We had massive rain the past month. Tiny mystery flies have been suiciding in bathroom sink. Those them? #
  • Love being unable to hear ans machine over kids playing video. #
  • Ah, “mossies” means mosquitoes. Haven’t seen any of those in the house, or even many outside, oddly enough. #
  • Unless in this context mossies are a local name for the black flies infamous in Maine and, as I recall, points north and east. #
  • man i cant sit at comp w/o baBY clinbing on me #
  • @innismir *raises hand* #
  • @TRBlogs You forgot preparing a resume. #
  • Trying to find out if bad/flaky UPS can cause electric bill spike. #
  • Sometimes I hate Google’s assumptions about word variants. UPS means UPS, not “up” or results are useless, for example. #
  • Hot dogs for lunch, plus leftovers and some pineapple. Kids happier now. Baby sleepy so nap looms after bath, presumably. #
  • I’ve mentioned SMS from Twitter being down completely? Tested other phone. It’s just my Blackberry. And just Twitter, SMS works great. #
  • @robpatrob I think I encountered them camping at Green Park or elsewhere there. The symptoms sure fit. #
  • And I think I found the problem. Duh. We’ll see next time someone I follow with device updates tweets. #
  • Time to rescue the brats from tub before the hurt each other too much. #
  • @pixxiespaz Stay tuned for Henry’s in the next day. Prob should make up for no bday pic set then too. #
  • Val taking most of my time while baby naps making her feel llike she matters too & keeping her from waking him. #
  • @pixxiespaz Not yet. Only matter of time. Sadie’s almost as interested in cooking as in art. Val less so, mainly thinks she’s in a musical. #
  • @almightygod Like the Frosted Flakes of deities… #
  • PayPal’s acct bal finally calculates backward accurately to match what it was a few transactions ago adjusted for subsequent activity. #
  • But I still want to go through every transaction ever and do the math to see if it’s right in an absolute sense, now I’ve seen it so awry. #
  • Checking domain auctions, now up and linkable. Need to do so at the respective sites & in posts. #
  • Sadie: “Baby brother, stop being a dorkhead!” #
  • Leaving Hannaford. Should have asked Deb to start thawing breasts. 3 maybe 4. But I’ll be there in a few. #

  • @sharone75 wanted to, well reviewed #
  • Must start devoting myself to maintaining to do list so at a time like this I can easily pick & accomplish something #
  • Rather than being usefully coherent, but not coherent enough to remember or think of what might best be done. #
  • Settled on going through pics and posting first couple. Didn’t actually look at all 400-odd from 8/21-8/25 yet, helped by thumbnail view. #
  • Now back to sleep & hope I get enough before someone has a bad dream or whatever, as has become almost routine. #
  • So glad coffee is a legal drug. #
  • Not sure Sadie isn’t sick this morning, the way she’s acting. #
  • Yep, it’s a good thing coffee wasn’t cheap competition for the wood pulp mainstay of the American paper industry the way hemp was back when. #
  • @MitchWagner Finally saw Dazed & Confused a few years ago, was bored to tears, couldn’t understand the fuss. FBDO amusing if also overrated. #
  • I know I never wear them, but my giant tie collection still needs to be moved if kids won’t stop playing with them. #
  • I hate the category default in my WordPress template where it displays titles only so you have to click one by one. Lame. Must change soon. #
  • Posted Sadie pictures: http://tinyurl.com/56nwwc #
  • @sharone75 Picking Romney would be stupid. I’d like to think it less likely post-Biden. #
  • @PatrickRuffini BBK? And too bad about Gustav. #
  • Time to rescue Henry from high chair and get on with the day. Looks like walking weather to mail package, maybe even walk to Hannaford. #
  • Repair of cabinet door & replacement of Henry lock not going well. Esp. since I was doing it while he napped, so he woke early. #
  • Helps if wood doesn’t split, and if cordless drill is charged or corded one not AWOL. #
  • Entertaining baby who doesn’t seem to have recovered well from short nap & is a bit itchy prob from my shampoo. #
  • Well, cabinet lock is installed. Wish I’d had the other kind as the new one is badly designed & created more work. Sore throat sucks, btw. #
  • I’d forgotten the RAM salvaged from the job I did last week. 1 GB each from 5 boxes, I think 6 at 512 and 8 at 256 MB. These days it may… #
  • not sound like much, but some of it may seriously up machines we have here, if any are compatible. A couple probably are. #
  • These kids are crazy. #
  • @MikeG1 Mmm… Garlic. BTW did you know your profile background is heavily resolution-dependent? Info partly covered even in 1024×768 on 17″ #
  • @MikeG1 Great idea, though. Pondering what to do with mine. #
  • Hoping I don’t regret applying Vista updates, but that box was always meant to test & wipe if needed. #
  • 386.5 MB seems a bit extensive, even with the Ultimate Extras. I know it’s hard to get software perfect on 1st pass but… #
  • @ericasadun Was reading recently it appears the Yellowstone caldera is dying and may have boomed its last. It *would* be a cool ELE, but… #
  • @seanhackbarth Education… Energy… Any other good “E” departments we should eliminate? #

  • For 3 days not WSJ’s “on the editorial page” e-mail has been blank. As if they’re goofing it up or something’s stripping/blocking it. #
  • @MikeG1 Automatically continued “pup is up, cup pup, pup in cup…” #
  • Big day for birthdays, including @NellaLussier. #
  • @Shurakai Mmmm… coffee. #
  • Discussing Thompson as a VP selection. #
  • At least PayPal is straight again, including being within $1 of correct amount for current balance. #
  • @seanhackbarth Fred’s Twitter account followed me today out of the blue, which is what brought it up. Dunno who controls that, but weird… #
  • @seanhackbarth And the Fred web site seems to have been taken over by casino people, but is still linked from his Twitter account, making it #
  • @seanhackbarth almost like a follow from a spammer. #
  • Just noted on blog that @daybydaycartoon needs help per main page http://www.daybydaycartoon.com/ currently. #
  • @seanhackbarth Huh. Seems like an odd combo, but good for Eric, building something of that much value. #
  • So much for being a stocking up wizard. Went to make rice and was short and couldn’t find the spare 5 lbs I was *sure* I had on hand. Duh. #
  • Yummy chicken burritos. The girls must be deficient in something as they couldn’t get enough cheese. #

  • @chucksimmins Exactly. #
  • Found out about a death in e-mail while talking to friend who was caught drinking after being sober several months & is being evicted… #
  • from state funded apartment and i have freakin kids #
  • On top of this he is going to NY tomorrow to help nephew with guardianship for sister with Alzheimer’s, depressed about that, bit it made #
  • it easy for “maybe I have Alzheimer’s” to be response to his surprise I have wife & kids, which he’d somehow forgotten despite xmas cards #
  • each year with pics of kids, and having very much known all about it. I wonder if it’s that he forgot WHO he was talking with, not details. #
  • I’d *wondered* if he had Alzheimer’s when he started calling me when his life was falling apart, before wife & kids left & he got foreclosed #
  • A shame we don’t have cable channels, after watching Sadie glued to a cooking show at my grandmother’s today. #
  • @rafeco Spybot Search &Destroy seems to be best overall & reputable. I tend to start by killing every startup item manually & purging temps. #
  • @rafeco Replacing computer is remarkably common. Some people are too fast to do so. Others won”t no matter what. #
  • I should go back to sleep. That way I can’t fume about Twitter being “over capacity” at 4-something AM on Monday. #
  • Mmm… liquid sleep substitute. #
  • @abigvictory Happy birthday! #
  • It’s only 75.6, but I’m feeling every bit of that 100% humidity. Looks like I should pack kids up for PO & store sooner rather than later… #
  • Rain, maybe thunderstorms on the way after noon. Last thing I want to do is drag them around again. Tempted to walk, go to closer store. #
  • But then it *could* rain sooner. Oh well. Dual track mind today, working on making/saving $ and urge to clean thoroughly. #
  • @phillymac No word, and they are notoriously and admittedly slow in their hiring process. #
  • KwH/day past mo was highest of past 13 mos, at 42, vs 39 for the couple other high ones. That while conserving? No way. 34 low, 38 past 3. #
  • And August was the month we didn’t use AC at all. #
  • Nothing changed, except fewer computers running and more bulbs replaced by CF. #
  • I figure it’s either the fridge dying, some other thing rogue like that, someone tapping us, or a really bad estimated bill. Extra laundry? #
  • Maybe there was that much extra laundry, but I don’t think so. Anyway, enough cluttering of tweetstream lest I provoke cetacean outcry. #
  • It’d be really nice to be able to listen to GC VM from prospective employer, even if not qualified, then investigate why… #
  • e-mail promised in VM over an hour ago never arrived without cling-ons whining at me or grabbing the keyboard. #
  • Also made it interesting to be unable to hear the VM with volume on PC & GC turned up all the way. After waiting while baby slept on me. #
  • @sharone75 By comparison our August gas & elec was $302 if paid in time to take the discount. AUGUST. No AC. Fewer fans. Fewer other. #
  • @sharone75 Apparently gas bill is OK as that was only $94 of it & can be explained by high prices & so many kid baths. #
  • @sharone75 Though sadly we’ve had winter months that weren’t much higher, so I can hardly wait. #
  • Then again, or gas usage was almost 1.5x last August, and 1.25x last November. Not just $ where price varies, but usage. #
  • Makes me wonder how many months they estimate rather than read the meters. #
  • Working on selling 2 adult & 2 babysitting memberships to Arisia ‘09 so they don’t expire and, hey, I get some money back. #
  • Kids are being remarkably good, considering they must be starving by now. Wondering what to feed them… #
  • Just remembered I should look again to see if Twitter has given any explanation as to why they dropped outgoing SMS entirely, even plain US. #
  • @MikeG1 Ouch! At least next month isn’t far away… #
  • @feliciaday What you need is FiOS. It rocks. #
  • Tweeting to delay the inevitable dressing of kids and going on errands. Day’s not getting any younger though. #
  • Stopped briefly at playground on way to store. Henry climbed up the big slide with modest assistance. Yikes! #
  • @Shurakai includes gas, but that is under 100 of it an actually also a bit high. #

  • Woke up inexplicably itchy, to baby being exceptionally itchy to point he needed benadryl. Causes unclear but both ate leftover sweet potato #
  • Slept pretty well, once I took some of the baby’s benadryl to reduce not eliminate the crazy itching. #
  • Today will be further practice in getting kids ready and out the door, in this case ton grandma’s house. #
  • Aw jeez. PayPal debit card used for $12 gas took $75 pending PLUS the $12 out of account so overdrew $12 from bank. #
  • But $21 in gas yesterday not listed AT ALL as a transaction. #
  • Odd, too, the $12 allegedly tapped from bank account never shows on bank’s transactions. Oh well. I assume the pending will clear soon. #
  • Time to clothe the monsters & stuff them into the car. #
  • @Shurakai I keep getting asked when your return trip here will be. #
  • Henry tried fresh tomato today. Fine so far & thought it was awesome. #
  • Henry tried to take a bite out of an unripe pear still hanging on tree in my grandmother’s yard. Cute. #
  • PayPal math: 68-75-12+12+25-1=23 (Disregarding the problem of the $75 hold from $12 gas purchase, and rounding slightly.) Confused. #
  • Last time I had a big burst of PayPal activity I found myself saying “huh?” to their balance vs my expectation a few times. #
  • Never identified a specific problem though. Time to go over it all fine tooth, as if I had an accounting degree or something. #
  • @sharone75 See, I had no idea when he was planning to deliver the kids & ppl expected me to have seen him, know, etc. #

  • Fairly or not I have longstanding perception of Biden as attention hungry crackpot, so my knee jerk response is bad/odd choice, but IMHO N/A #
  • Mr Biden, a 65-year-old veteran lawmaker, has three decades of Senate experience and is highly respected on silly Sunday talk shows. #
  • @stinson That 2nd one was a quote from BBC article in which I replaced the final words with Reagan’s famed description of the Sunday shows. #
  • Silly children. #
  • @chrisod The Guild is a riot. #
  • I guess it’s time to work on the planned cleaning. Perhaps I should slop the kids first, before they know they’re hungry. #
  • Hate wasting time trying to get baby sleeping only to have him not fall asleep as he has implied he will. #
  • Don’t ask for encyclopedia cd if that’s not what you really want. #
  • Hating the upstairs neighbors just a bit as they try to wake our napping baby. #
  • No idea what to make for supper, but it’s about time to start. Or I could keep cleaning, serve PBJ on paper towels & not make more dishes. #
  • Need to research dairy as contact vs food allergen, as it seems baby has more prob with the former, can relate to other contact allergies. #
  • Me to Deb: He picked LBJ in a year when picking LBJ wasn’t necessary. #

  • Dreamed I was on phone with one prospective employer & put them on hold to take call from another one offering me choice of start days. #
  • That’s an improvement. Also dreamed about a place that sold flowering plants & computers side-by-side. #
  • The place hiring me was a garage, for office management/admin something as best I could tell. Stock dream location. #
  • Same basic garage was in one of my end of the world dreams maybe a year ago, surroundings just as desolate this time. #
  • Okay, back to sleep, if I can… #
  • Love turning the window fan on and getting someone’s reefer smoke. Implication is it’s from 3rd floor. Also get cooking smells same way. #
  • Long since wrote check for utilities. Guess I ought to open office door & see what kids have done to the place… #
  • Missed the boat for setting them down each with identical bowls of cereal. Sadie wants trail mix. Val wants chicken! (It *was* good.) #
  • I retreated back to the office for a few so they could whine without me. #
  • @phillymac I was up maybe 7:30, after sleeping like crap. Should have just stayed up. #
  • Guess I’ll go back out and try to feed them… something. We really DO need to leave here sooner rather than later, preferably. #
  • What the kids don’t know is that I have in mind a playground in our travels, maybe even in Halifax. #
  • The twerps can’t even let me type an e-mail without playing in the toilet! Granted, e-mail was impromptu electoral analysis to my father… #
  • But still, they ought to know better by now. #
  • Kids having a blast at Halifax playground, after initial trepidation. #

  • Superb cake. Very successful 1st birthday. #
  • Oh, the cake & frosting didn’t bother him AT ALL. Woohoo!! He demolished a good-sized piece with glee. Thank you Wal-Mart house brands. #
  • Wal-Mart traditional white cake, none of his allergens like the name brands. Their fudge frosting, ditto. Mostly used homemade frosting… #
  • Accented with the commercial fudge frosting, which is best tasting canned frosting I’ve had. We all sampled liberally beforehand. #
  • I’ve never noticed the camera get hot before from extensive use, but I snapped a ton of pictures tonight, some probably even good, & it did. #
  • Dreamed I not only did bad in interview but made tptb at employer question whether ppl who recommended me should still work for them. #
  • @phillymac Reminded me years ago I had a dream in which I was in a lobby awaiting interview when fax came in to tell them I was blacklisted. #
  • Baby napping in office makes things interesting. #
  • Apparently Twitter isn’t actually sending SMS tweets today. #
  • @robmay Cute costume. Missed that when you tweeted it. Sadie thinks holiday generically means candy now, so she’ll be way into it this year. #
  • The crying is going to drive me crazy. #
  • @robmay Sadly, not so much Independence Day. Should have seen her light up when I told her on the 4th it was a holiday. #
  • Still debating between baking a chicken & doing something with pork. Probably chicken, esp since I had crockpot in mind for pork & it’s late #
  • @Ithildyn It has a PhD in yumminess. #

  • 58 degrees. Brrr! Is Al Gore in town? #
  • @MikeG1 ours like townhouse. it’s how i got them to leave playground last week. #
  • The kids sure know how to start a day on the right foot. #
  • @phillymac Tweeted about it after. Meh. I didn’t think it went well, but hard to tell and I am well recommended, so… #
  • if henry would get off of me for awhile i might get to writwe him, a happy 1st birthday post, or even makea cakw #
  • How bad is it? I just closed the office door for a few minutes with the kids on the other side, as a timeout. #
  • Also itching to post about Henry’s food issue’s again, as there are things we have ruled in/out since I last did. Then there’s last night… #
  • He had burger, rice, corn, broccoli… and mayo because eggs didn’t seem to bother him & nothing else in it should in those amounts. #
  • Well, he got covered in hives, but we ended up deciding it was probably b/c I gave him the most corn he’s had & more broc than before… #
  • Corn as veggie needs to be in moderation & there was something off about the batch anyway. Broc is high & also needs to be minimal… #
  • He’s been good with lesser amounts so it was kind of an unplanned threshold test, so the mayo was badly timed & confused the issue. Probably #
  • He’s also had other stuff during the day than might have sensitized him ahead of time. Anyway, b’day cake w/egg in it most likely OK. #
  • McDonald’s fries contain milk! Glad I checked before treating the birthday boy to some. #
  • Burger King fries do not contain milk and are considered acceptably vegetarian, whereas McDonald’s are not. #
  • Don’t care about vegetarian part, it just happens to overlap. #
  • So perhaps once we’re on the road anyway I’ll run all the way to BK and get a couple orders of fries as birthday treat. #
  • McDonald’s gets kudos for having a better, highly usable & clear ingredients web page. #
  • Let’s round ‘em up & garb them while they’re still calm. Off we go! #
  • Ended up at west end playground with kids. Henry now likes the swing. #
  • Hooray for Blackberry service outages? Or T-Mobile being goofy. Or all of the above. #
  • @chucksimmins He is fine with gluten, or at least there’s no overt problem. Good thing! It means he can eat a lot better. #
  • @chucksimmins Milk & corn flour/starch/meal are 2 big ones hard to avoid. #
  • Pondering making lime frosting for Henry’s white cake, using canned fudge (milk-free!) frosting for the writing. Ready to frost any time… #
  • My lime frosting is about the tastiest frosting ever. Go figure, necessity leads to funny things. #

  • Just signed up for Rejaw as jaysolo to try it out, then appropriately came back to find the whale on this tab. #
  • Nice! Closed workorder after hours last night. Just got paid & was able to transfer it out this AM. And since the BANK is the one behind the #
  • speed at which transfers get credited to bank account, transfers from O*F* seem to credit dramatically faster than those from PayPal. #
  • But it’s the bank that makes an electronic transfer take up to 4 days, doncha know. #
  • @venomouskate Indeed, thank you! I’ll do an update this morning, after I route the kids back to the living room. #
  • @Shurakai 3 Days in the same bank? Sheesh. In fairness it’s usual 2 biz days. #
  • @Pistachio http://tinyurl.com/6a5rcq made me think of you, naturally. #
  • @Pistachio That getting lost in the crowd part doesn’t sound like you. #
  • Wow, the sky just opened up in a close windows to avoid interior flooding sort of way. #
  • Ah, this would be connected: http://tinyurl.com/58kzu5 #
  • @Shurakai I don’t see any video there. #
  • I know it’s raining, but for some reason I find the smell of someone burning right now more obnoxious than when it’s in the evening. #
  • The “find your friends” feature on Rejaw doesn’t work. Not at all. It can find nothing, even that’s definitely there. Whale would be proud. #
  • @sharone75 You’ve finally met the relatives, eh? :> #
  • @pixxiespaz Mmmm… coffee. #
  • I must eat before I faint. Then otherwise prepare and brace myself for the phone interview at 3:00. Must be interested, as now I’m nervous. #
  • @phillymac I even tried searching jaysolo, my own username, and things like “the.” #
  • @CloudySky It’d be cool to go see The Who. #
  • 3 Completely unrelated kids, yep: http://tinyurl.com/5clex2 #
  • E-mailing last week’s interviewer while awaiting now late call from this week’s interviewer… #
  • Blargh. My nervous came through and IMHO it went badly. #
  • Actually not even IMHO if I am any judge of cues as well as my own performance. Oddly, he bored me & I was less focused. We’ll see. #
  • If nothing else, it’s practice. #
  • @CloudySky Yeah, I didn’t fully appreciate them in my youth (I was born in 1961). #
  • OTOH I just e-mailed last week’s interviewer and got an awesome reply that speaks to good networking regardless of the job or not. #
  • @owillis Reboot is a darn good question. I could see *either* continuing & improving from last one, or scrapping entirely working. Hmmm… #
  • Need to decide soon whether to make chicken, leftover spaghetti, or other for supper. #
  • At least dude upstairs didn’t start his construction project until *after* my interview. Sounds like he’s rebuilding the place. #
  • I suppose if you’re the landlord it’s good seeing the intent to stay long implicit in the way those folks have dug in & shaped the place. #
  • Sadie requested burgers & rice for supper, which means she’ll eat it, if not a veggie too. Guess it’s time to go start thawing & cooking. #

  • Silly me, going to the Windows update site with Firefox… #
  • Wanted to remind myself how these happen and see current interface before doing them for end user in AM along with RAM upgrades. #
  • Heh. Update barfed on my XP box, cryptic site error. Maybe b/c Spybot S&D resident, or maybe b/c Win update service turned off. #
  • @cootiehog Not that it’d be hard to be better than *that* in person. And BTW I’m a little jealous. I’d love to see Chikezie & Johns esp. #
  • Having trouble doing alarm clock math to set them before going to sleep for real (as opposed to falling asleep reading kids to sleep). #
  • The whole “leave by 7:00, that means…” is result in “um, um, um…” and a void, which is pretty sad. Need to factor in extra time, too. #
  • Meh. Guess it’s 5:00 on the 1st alarm, and the one I set for 5:30 is the backup. If I’m not up & flying by 6 then may as well go later. #
  • Seems wrong for Nokia phone to have better alarm clock interface than Blackberry. #
  • IIRC the Blackberry is louder & more compelling about actually *waking* me, though. William Tell Overture gets my attention. #
  • Sleep now. Just cuz I’m not nervous like I was with the underpaid POS system work doesn’t mean sleep is optional. #
  • Insomnia bad. #
  • @abigvictory Deb did too, and I never quite saw the charm, though when I eventually caught most of the movie I didn’t hate it. #
  • Finally did get soundly sleepy. A minute later the alarm started sounding. Ugh. #
  • Ram almost done #
  • Done! They are going to set machines to do automatic updates during working hours so didn’t have to wait. #
  • Funny being local & automotive they know my family. #
  • @neatlytangled BTW I found not only dairy free but also dairy & egg & banana free cake recipes. One had banana… #
  • As a sub for some of what milk & egg would do. Most had chocolate oddly. One I saved used rice or almond or soy milk. #
  • Salt & vinegar chips have milk. So do Florida lime and sea salt chips. Salt, lime, potato, figured ok for baby. #
  • Walmart brand cake mix has no milk and requires none to mix it! #
  • Amazing that black beans cost 18% more at walmart than stop & shop. #
  • You should always change the name and description and package size avalability of a product confusingly. #
  • @neatlytangled Besides maybe a mix did we care about any other cake stuff. Er… Powdered sugar! #
  • Leaving wally world. Surprised how much I spent but oh well. #
  • @sharone75 that’s very cool! #
  • @Shurakai That’s some impressive arm twisting or compelling outside attraction or something. #
  • @bdthomas We had to, for my BS in management science, but that was way back in the early-mid eighties. That’s why I had Pascal & Cobol. #
  • @robmay I’m amazed it’s NOT still required as when I went. It was actually 2 CS classes + 1 “data processing” class run by mgt sci dept. #
  • @sharone75 We’re here, so I don’t see why not. #
  • Forgot about my interview tomorrow until a short time ago when I noticed it in Outlook. Oops. #

  • Fail. If you lookup availability of xtremeware.com at GoDaddy, nowhere does it mention the domain is available in auction, promotes others. #
  • My sister’s zucchini relish is so good. #
  • Henry got his 1st taste of hot dog - tiny taste as it’s spiced meat - after I looked up sodium lactate & it sounded OK. He approved. #
  • Baby’s been sleeping in office over 2 hrs. Kitchen is a lot cleaner & starting living room. #
  • Loathe the idea of cooking & creating dirty dishes. No idea what to have, anyway, thinking mix of leftovers & some veggies… #
  • Have half a cabbage from brother’s garden & that’s a safe veggie for baby to try, summer squash he can eat, broccoli not as much. #
  • Odd, smells like someone is grilling food IN the apartment. Can’t see who it is, if it’s outside vs stove downstairs. #
  • @christinelu @feliciaday rocks. Hope you’ve since then watched The Guild and Dr. Horrible. #
  • Being a parent makes me appreciate bubble baths as a stealth cleansing trick. #

  • My mother has great timing. Dropped by just after supper at bad time of day on bad day. But she brought cool clothes for Henry, & veggies. #
  • Didn’t even notice the girls crash out to sleep behind me in the office while I entertained their brother for a while. Very cute. #
  • Need to find less time-consuming suppers, or start them earlier or something, but it was so good. Fried chicken, potatoes, carrots, gravy. #
  • We’re apparently as little as $200 away from making the $1425 we have to pay by next Friday, so that’s cool. #
  • Managed a good amount of sleep. Ended on crazy dream of endlessly large, partly decrepit house. #
  • @sharone75 Just saw your e-mail & replied, if you’re seeing this first. #
  • @sharone75 FWIW if you’re here by, say, 11:30 I’ll try to hang that long before leaving & not get in shower or such. #
  • Shopping with all 3 kids is interesting. They were good, but came home with extras, incl. 1st instance of something I didn’t put in cart. #
  • @MikeG1 That sounds more like Ruby on Whales. You sure you didn’t fire up the wrong dev tool today? :> #
  • Sadie caught me watching episode 4 of Legend of Neil and now wants me to replay it for her over and over. The skeletons *are* cool, but… #
  • @christinelu Partly famous for being famous online, like so many, and partly a genuinely clever biz/marketing/author guy. #
  • @abigvictory Never had Vietnamese. Was curious when Chinese place near me in Quincy also had some Vietnamese on menu, never tried though. #
  • @christinelu Doesn’t sound like a shoot down so much as an “I’m purer.” Not only never saw point to Squidoo, but also it seems spam haven. #
  • @christinelu Not necessarily. Just means he doesn’t need the money, which is a nice position to be in, but maybe not to be snobby about. #
  • The girls are nuts over Utz salt & pepper potato chips I bought on whim even though Henry can’t have more than a little taste due to pepper. #
  • They’re very strong, but good. Brand was on sale. Henry can eat plain chips & it fills a niche in his diet & convenience. #
  • They need to stop eating chips or they’ll have no room for burritos in a little while. #
  • @phillymac My best car ever was a Nissan. I’d buy one of their vans in a sec, and never again a Chrysler van. #

  • Ironic that my niece’s computer was fried by electric company turning on power there when they weren’t supposed to so needs me to fix it. #
  • Sigh… Gotta take care of dishes, plus it’s time for all good little kids to go to bed Real Soon Now. And ours, too. #
  • Poor Sadie. Sprung a fever again, was cold & wanted to wrap up in blankets & have extra bedtime attention. Tylenol already helped. #
  • That’s it for dishes for tonight. Remembered something I need to do online or I might be in bed immediately after this. #
  • I hate that clicking the mouse wakes the baby. #
  • @y2vonne Had I thought of it, probably. I do that for naps during the day to muffle the world. #
  • Sadie is up and sad we can’t go to playground every day. She seems like she may still be sick, if not like last night. #
  • @swirlspice But then who ever thought they’d be all but giving away houses anywhere? #
  • @abigvictory I read “hot August night” and finished in my head with “and the beach was burning…” Don’t ask me why. #
  • Did I say crying was allowed? Sheesh. #
  • @abigvictory Well, at least it’s not the earwormiest thing ever. #
  • Everyone is up now. Just need to square Val away and contrive to get some alone time to call and make work appointment for Monday. #
  • Also need to review the whole Windows updates thing, since I have to do those for end user but never do for myself so can’t get crippled. #
  • It seems wrong that updates should be so frequent and crippling that one would want to avoid them, but there you go. #
  • When new support people took over my old client & there was overlap, the new guys crashed them hard by making sure Windows updates ran. #
  • Then I fielded the angry because of it. #
  • Despairing of so much as reading paperwork & making call while I have the kids. Except I have to do it today, now, so tough. #
  • Heh. The paperwork says I was supposed to call to make appointment by 9:57 AM Wednesday. Gotta be an automated date/time calculation there. #
  • Perhaps I should take the cell and go into the bedroom to make the call, so Val can keep watching Sesame Street videos at my desk. #
  • We need more than 5 rooms. Perhaps we can work on that soon as we can pay the electricity here. #
  • Monday’s end user asked me to do server RAM swap 1st, start at 7:30, else 9:00 or after, as they’re busiest right at 8:00 opening. #
  • Waiting on answer from TPTB even though it should be no brainer. #
  • Price of making that call & other call & entering workorder notes was cleaning pee covered bathroom floor & potties, bathing youngest two. #
  • @MikeG1 Or they weren’t factoring in quality of restaurants… #
  • Can’t believe how hungry I am, like yesterday’s burned calories are crying out for replacement today. #
  • @y2vonne And it’s good that people are finally realizing as much. #
  • @margilowry http://twitter.com/royblumenthal/statuses/888737073 made me think of you. #
  • Well, 11 selected comics from my collection ought to fetch about $50 and be bargain. That’d be a start. #
  • @sharone75 Still trying to decide. Would have burritos if had the tortillas. Maybe fried chicken. Depends if I go to store first. #
  • Erm… Someone is selling ONE of those 11 comics on Amazon for $210, and the set of 10 might be several hundred overall. WTF? I have 2 sets. #

  • @MikeG1 Wow, hot dogs and corn? That’s harsh. #
  • @caltechgirl IIRC it worked, but the floppy drive lost its ability to write anything, so you could, say, draw, but not save what you did. #
  • @caltechgirl I still have a bunch of stuff I wrote on 360k (720?) 5 1/4″ floppies, single sided double density or whatever they were. #
  • Good thing coffeemakers aren’t like printers, or a pack of filters would be 20 bucks rather than a buck or so. #
  • Curious. The WP plugin for making a post sticky failed after a day. #
  • Ah. “Sticky” makes it stay on top for the same day. “Announcement” is longer term. That is explained nowhere obvious. #
  • How did it get past 10 AM already? I need to drag the kids to the post office soon. #
  • I so need a list. #
  • Maybe I’ll take the kids to the store & go by car, rather than just walking to the post office. First, though, I should probably feed them. #
  • @MikeG1 $600 for a monitor stand? That must be from Tiffany or Faberge or something… #
  • I seem to have a significant bruise on my head from hitting it when I was at storage. Stood up into a table that jutted out. Hard. #
  • Every tweet I get via SMS appears twice today. Dueling towers when I was away from home yesterday, yeah, but here? That’s just odd. #
  • @Shurakai LotR was good. Narnia was adequate at least. It’s possible, but WoT is awfully big to adapt. #
  • Trying eggs on Henry again in hopes of proving he can eat them so maybe he can have bday cake made without dairy. He thinks they’re gross. #
  • Love how we notice inflation acutely in, say, May, and they measure it as obscene in July. #
  • @Shurakai I believe in Outlook 2000 it’s Rules Wizard. IIRC it was different in 98, don’t have newer in front of me. #
  • Henry ate more than a tiny taste of egg once he’d demolished a pile of corn and rice, 3 pear halves, and a slice of toast. Not a pumpkin yet #
  • We’ll just need to find a recipe for cake or something like it that uses no dairy products at all. No eggs either would have been too much. #
  • @neatlytangled Ours would probably make @MikeG1 happy by actually *eating* his suppers, so maybe we done good. #
  • Looks like it’s now letting me sms but not e-mail, like my device isn’t making the very nearby tower happy. #
  • Why is a tweet I sent last night just now appearing? #
  • @pixxiespaz You never know when one of us will render that an unexpected truth. Plus until the Methuselah Foundation succeeds we all are… #
  • Walking to post office with kids. May swing by playground too if I dare. #
  • Poor Henry fell asleep between post office and playground. Girls are overwhelmed. #
  • Val finally figured out there’s more fun to it than high places to climb and look out from, & some of crowd left. #
  • So the 2 girls are pounding up the equpment & down big slide repeatedly fast as they can. Baby sleeping through it. #
  • Everyone’s leaving the playground but us! I thought I used deodorant… #
  • @neatlytangled I wondered if you might stop, but that might have been too exciting for them. #
  • Starting the process of convincing them we have to go home… #
  • @neatlytangled Yep, that too. Thought you might enjoy it. Sadie was not amused by 5 minute warning. #
  • Val just loves the swing. Sadie tried out the see saw with a little boy Val’s size. #
  • Well, I had Val in strolleer for a second. Now Henry is awake and sounds excited to see playground. #
  • We just started walking. Think we’re fine. #

  • Odd: on my 2k box FlashPlayerUpdate tries to add itself to user registry startup every time I run a program. #
  • Put xtremeware.com on TDNAM trying 7 day auction again, but as front page featured listing, insanely low starting & reserve prices. #
  • Based on what people are asking for some other domains I ought to be asking several times what I am, but hey. #
  • Why does GoDaddy e-mail that your auction listing was successful when in fact it’s not up yet? #
  • But then, why does GoDaddy go years of being asked to change contact info without doing so, so you have to maintain the old e-mail address. #
  • Why did I assume a “make post sticky” option in WordPress? Maybe that’s the one where you have to postdate a post… #
  • Postdating just schedules it and you can’t force the issue? Did I find an actual weakness in WordPress? Wow. #
  • Plug-ins for everything! #
  • Accepted a small workorder for Monday. May not payout in time to raise $1000 by 8/22 but can be factored into aftermath. #
  • For once something worth the price, that’s well within my scope, nearby, less red taped, that I beat everyone else to accepting. #
  • @seanhackbarth 2.5x (us) and 2.6 also require plugin, which works like a charm. One of these days I need to upgrade all the blogs to 2.6… #
  • If I’m ever going to seriously work from home I am going to require cell service that works reliably At My Desk. #
  • @jcaruso I was happy with Verizon when I had a prepaid phone. Drove from Fresno CA to Stoughton MA with it & never notice lack of signal. #
  • @jcaruso We’re actually near a T-Mobile tower & signal’s fine outside. Also seems better on the Nokia than the Blackberry. #
  • kids #
  • Giving the kids food was supposed to keep them at bay. #
  • My domain auction is up: http://tinyurl.com/6ysoud #
  • Training the girls not to get allergens into the hands of their brother is going to kill us. #
  • Even relatively mellow the kids make typing longer than a tweet hard. Pondering if I can make supper ahead so I can go to storage unit… #
  • After Deb gets home, when I’d normally work on food. Might not be too late for crockpot or I could make a stew/soup now. Hmmm… #
  • attempting to lull baby to sleep #
  • That was an awfully short nap… #
  • Man. Food, a bath, and then it’s “please daddy can me have a peanut butter sandwich” when I figure they’re fed for a while. #
  • @sandeepparikh I believe there are escrow services you can use, or make it a de facto private sale via an “auction” site like tdnam.com. #
  • @sandeepparikh OTOH it’s unlikely, and PayPal may have sufficient buyer protection. #
  • I hope the prospective buyer of xtremeware.com meant that & not xtremecomp.com, as I had same e-mail on both & he didn’t specify… #
  • Deb will be amused by my use of a Dr. Horrible paraphrase in my profile. Anyway, off to storage! With camera so I can open door & take pic. #
  • It’s like one of those cartoon closets stuffed beyond full so it springs forth when the door opens. Fun. #
  • Made it to storage. Now to find the key and not hurt the guy whose truck is dinging due to open door. #
  • Funky. Blacberry is displaying data connection refused aven as it sees massive signal strength. #
  • So that’s where those books went… #
  • 5 Boxes of comics so far. Not sure how many more are those, but few reachable w/o serious work. 700+ pulled +’d say. #
  • Huh. Box with Cato Inst. Journals from mid eighties when I was member or whatever status it was. #
  • @neatlytangled Oops! Hadn’t thought of that possibility. #
  • One more small box of comics & a box that really *was* dot matrix paper as advertised. #
  • Too bad I probably couldn’t get much for my TRS-80 & peripherals in this other box… #
  • I hate the storage door that won’t latch! #

  • Guess I should go to bed, seeing as I finished the dishes over 2 hours ago & was almost asleep originally about 5 hours ago. #
  • Not to mention the interview at in 8 hours, before continuing the efforts to raise $600 to keep the power on. #
  • @Pistachio That was the problem I was having that a soft reset fixed, which I found out to do because you tweeted about Blackberry issues. #
  • Must have coffee and shower and wake up before interview call… #
  • Waiting for phone to ring. Guess I’ll poke around their web site… #
  • That went well. Next interview is 3 PM next Tuesday. #
  • Love the sound of working for them, but the hiring process is very slow & I’ll have to talk to several people over time. #
  • Sort of a more advanced support, where you help with scripting & custom stuff hospitals develop, not just FAQ answers. #
  • They warned me up front there can be job opening whiplash, where they work on hiring then decide not to if sales are down. #
  • Prince of Persia as a movie? Odd. But then, I was never able to get beyond the first area of the game. #
  • Baby with allergies makes a handy (legit) reason for not doing steady work this year & wanting from-home if I can get it. #
  • So we need to raise about $1000 beyond what we already have by Friday 8/22, then the rest is 6 installments. #
  • Think I’ll post, have a bit to eat and go to storage unit to inventory what’s there & remove comics to potentially sell off. #
  • @sharone75 At least thoughts are not crimes. In this country. Mostly. #
  • @feliciaday Despising making phone calls is integral to being a geek. #
  • Or not, since it’s 60-percenting out now. Hard to move stuff out of storage to get at other stuff if it’s getting soaked. #
  • Perhaps I can leave the brats with someone… tomorrow. Hey wow, a day with no chance of rain! How’d that happen? #
  • Heh. My college diploma was in one of the boxes of comics. Forgot that. Way to keep it pristine though. #
  • @adarowski Aptima, eh? My friend since we were 12 and co-uncle Adam worked there for a while. #
  • @Ryon_D Haven’t read it in years & can’t speak to current plot, but that was always a favorite. Her getting married makes me feel old. #
  • Just realized I didn’t get promised followup e-mail from my interviewer this AM. Hmmm… #
  • @sharone75 That is such a great picture! #
  • Just offered my bottom price for xtremeware.com to the person in .za who expressed interest in buying then never replied back. #
  • Managed to raise it to Google PR of 5 while it was for sale, somehow, which is higher than most logical buyer’s PR3. #
  • It ought to be worth several times what I’m asking, but I’m discounting for speed. #
  • The w.bloggar spell checker is a funny thing. #
  • That was weird. w.bloggar took it upon itself to change the time on my post the 2nd time I corrected a typo. #
  • @listener42 I know that feeling. #
  • @michellis7 Indeed. #
